Glen Mervyn Dam is 18km south of Collie and is a popular waterskiing, swimming and
fishing spot. Access to the western shore is via a narrow unsealed track and consequently is not designed for towing caravans. Free
bush camping is permitted anywhere on the western shore of the
dam with many sites nestled in the shade of beautiful large jarrah trees. Camping on the "beach" (gravel in some areas, sandy in others) is also ok.
Suitable for camper trailers and small offroad caravans but track to reach the campsites on the western side of the
dam are rutted and steep and best suited for 4WD vehicles. Long caravans will have trouble as there is limited turning areas especially if already busy with campers.
Dogs on leads are allowed, but keep in mind that fox baiting occurs nearby and the baits are highly toxic to domestic animals.
There is a drop
toilet on the western side accessible to the main
camping area but other
toilets are also available on the eastern side (day use area).
Camp and cooking fires are not permitted at
Glen Mervyn, so make sure you pack a gas
camp stove.
