The northern section of the
Bay of Fires Conservation Area –
Policemans Point campground is located south of Anson Bay. The
campground has numerous campsites nestled among trees with
views of the
Ansons Bay river mouth. It is not possible to cross the outlet of
Ansons Bay.
Perfect for long leisurely walks, swimming in the protected bays, fishing off the rocks and quiet coastal camping nestled behind the dunes.
Caravan/Campervan, tent, free
campground. No bookings are required. Hybrid
toilets. Camping is permitted only in designated
campground. Dogs (on leads only) are permitted. A
blackwater dump station is located on the corner of
Tully and
Young streets in
St Helens. Please do not dump chemical
toilet contents in the
campground toilets. There are no rubbish
bins provided and you will need to take your rubbish with you to dispose of properly.
Campers are encouraged to bring fire pots for use when fire restrictions are not in place. Always
check local signage for campfire restrictions before lighting a campfire. It is best to have a fuel stove with you for cooking as restrictions can change. Extinguish your campfire completely before departing and ensure no hot coals remain.
The maximum stay is four weeks.
Beach activities and bird-watching are popular and pods of dolphins are frequently seen cruising close to the shore. The area is also known for its scenic reefs, underwater caves and abundant sea life and snorkelling and diving gear are often packed with camping essentials.
