The Mereenie Road has more warning signs than necessary. It is just a standard gravel road if you are travelling in a 4WD vehicle and have let a little air out of your tyres you won't hardly notice a thing unless there has been recent wet weather or the road is due for grading. The signs are definately intended to ensure 2WD vehicles and inexperienced offroad drivers take caution.
