To reach the coloured sands drive from
Cooktown to Hopevale. Go to servo and obtain a permit for $10.00 and you will receive a mud map of how to get there. However office may be closed.
Continue through town on tar road which goes for 20 km to the beach and Eddies
Camp and obtain permit or
camp. An AWD nor a 4WD will not get far at high tide. At low tide the hard sand is drivable for a few km north to where the parasailers
camp.
