Piccaninny Creek carpark is the starting point for 3 great walks within
Purnululu National Park.
Domes Trail: A short circuit trail of 1km that winds around a cluster of beehive formations. Easy walking, allow 30minutes.
Cathedral Gorge: Take the left branch off the
Piccaninny Gorge trail as signed for an easy - moderate walk of 3km return. Allow 2 hours. This walk is one of the major highlights of a visit to the Bungle Bungles taking in a walk along open bedrock of the
Piccaninny Creek and then spectacular walking and scrambling over rocks as you enter a
cavern with a
natural amphitheatre and
water hole with white sand.
Piccaninny Gorge: An extensive walk of 30km return (2-3 days) or a 14km return walk part-way to "The Elbow".
Piccaninny Gorge is the largest
gorge in
Purnululu National park. Sheer side cliffs, and numerous waterholes and lush vegetation make this a spectacular walk for the experienced, fit and
well prepared hiker. Carry in own camping gear, water and food for this overnight hike and advise Park Rangers of your intentions.
