Lasseter's
Cave is a historic site just a little way off the Great Central Rd. Here you can see the
cave alongside the Hull River, where gold prospector Lewis Harold Bell Lasseter sheltered from the summer heat for 25 days with no food in 1931 after his camels ran away. The
cave is only 30m from the
carpark. A sign tells of the tragedy that befell him after he got assistance from a friendly aboriginal who guided him to walk 55km to Irvin Creek where he later died. There is a day use area only with a carpark/turning circle,
water tank, shelter, bin and a picnic table here but no camping is permitted.
