The Plumridge Lakes Road is much straighter, wider than Naries Point Rd and had the odd rocky outcrop or wash out. The country was also much prettier than Naries Point Rd, with breakaway country, many mounts and small salt lakes. Features to be seen from the road include, Sherk Range,
Wilson Range, Mt Carlton, Signal Point, Mt Hickok, Point Bott and Mt Luck to name a few.
If you are travelling to the south of
Lake Rason, the lake itself isn’t in view of the road. Vegetation varies from previous with more mulga and marble gum patches and less spinifex but more kangaroo grass patches.
If there has been rain in the area take care because there can be very boggy patches to catch the unwary. A vehicle was bogged for 4 hours on a previous trip. We were in a convoy of 6 vehicles and two of the rescuers had to be rescued first before they could get to lead and bogged vehicle.
Check with
Laverton Police or
Laverton Shire if uncertain about track conditions.
