UPDATE by member "ossiejs" 15/8/04:
Entry $45 per vehicle; campers/caravans included in entry. EFTPOS. Campsites accessible to 2WD vehicles and Caravans/Campers driven with some care. No mobile phone service. Sign in and sign out required. Reception has basic (i.e. emergency!) motor fluids and food - e.g frozen bread. No independent potable water (however clean water in amenities!). Some creeks have water - usual care if using. Plenty of firewood throughout Park. Generators (yuk) permitted - usual considerate operating hours. Maps supplied VERY inaccurate in
places - ask at Reception for update, esp. as to rating of some tracks. Tracks colour-coded (green,
orange and red) indicating degree of difficulty, but always physically
check any "4WD" track first. We found some surprises, but owners accept no responsibility or liability. Plenty of safe opportunities for 4WD low range, first and second gear driving and higher. Owners charge a fee for vehicle recovery depending on the degree of difficulty of the track.
Watch out for inquisitive wildlife. Mate lost complete piece of steak while eating steak sandwich held in both hands - Kookaburra perched in a tree above
campsite saw its opportunity and flew down, grabbed the steak and took off. "Cheeky bugger" is the censored language used by all witnesses! Keep all food secure, as usual - pythons, brushtail possums, dingoes and our feathered friends abound always looking for a free feed.
Enjoy your stay, but recommend visiting mid-week when there's no school holidays. I'll be back.
