Information

Nestled at the foot of Mt Arthur and on the banks of two rivers, Wellington has all the services of a thriving country town, combined with a village atmosphere and a water playground at its back door.
Lake Burrendong, which has a capacity three and a half times greater than Sydney Harbour, is a hive of water sport activity from fishing and swimming to sailing and water skiing.
Discover a wonder down under and step back a million years when you explore the Wellington Caves.
The complex, situated on the Mitchell Highway just eight kilometres south of Wellington, is one of the most significant fossil sites in the world. It provides a physical link to the time when the large ancestors of Australia's marsupials roamed around the Caves area. The Caves contain the largest deposit of Plio-Pleistocene mammal fossils in Australia and are the site of the first discovery of marsupial fossils in 1830.
Wellington boasts first class health, educational, sporting and recreational facilities.
The second oldest town west of the Blue Mountains, it was first settled in 1823 and has an array of historic buildings and homes. It was the site of the first hotel west of the mountains and that establishment, licensed in 1842, is still operating today.
Believe it or not, opposite that hotel is the site of the last known duel fought in Australia in 1854.

Wellington-Osawano Japanese Garden is the result of a 20 million yen ($270,000) gift from Wellington's Japanese sister city in Osawano.
