This is where the
Strzelecki Track crosses Strzelecki Creek on a causeway which used to have four 1.8m diameter concrete pipes. On March 21st 2010 floods proved too powerful and washed out the roadway sending two pipes rolling downstream. Repairs took a month and a new earthen bank is in place but now with only 2 large pipes and 4 smaller. But it could be 20 years until the next flood.
3 km south the nearby
Yaningurie Waterhole on the Stzrelecki Creek is a good spot to get off the road being 2km behind the dunes. The
waterhole was not full when we were here last but we saw plenty of evidence of desert animals including corellas, crows, kangaroos and plenty of
dingo tracks too.
