Waldaira Lake is located at the southern extremity of the Willandra lake system. IKt falls within the expansive flood plains of the
Murrumbidgee River.
Home of the Mutti Mutti people, many stone artifacts and scarred trees can be found in
Box Creek and scarred trees along the banks of the dried out Lake. Like many inland lake systems, it is reliant on seasonal rains and run off to fill and can be dry for many years at a times.
Box Creek feeds the entire Willandra Lake systems including the much larger Lakes Pitarpunga and Tin Tin further north.
