A location where the 1860 Burke & Wills expedition camped on the 29-30/10/1860. (
Camp 45). This was the last location that Burke sent to the Exploration Committee his update on his progress to
Coopers Creek and his intentions. At this point he notified the Committee that he had split the Expedition up and left a group back in Menindie. This is also the location where Wright had left Burke & Wills to navigate to
Coopers Creek. Robert Burke had promoted Wright to 3rd in command of the expedition subject to the approval of the Expedition Committee and requested Wright in the mean time to “send up” stores from Menindie to
Coopers Creek at the first convenience. Wright then waited in Menindie for the committee to approve his promotion. Because of the abundance of water the expedition stayed 2 days to rest and revive.
