Beelbi, Marsh Creeks and coastal foreshore, 34 km NW of
Maryborough in the Fraser Coast Regional Council, was declared a Fish Habitat on 8 May 1986. Declared for the conservation of commercial and recreational fishing grounds; inshore fish and crustacean nursery area; and a habitat for dugong. Bream, estuary cod, flathead,
garfish, luderick,
mangrove jack, sea
mullet,
tailor, whiting, banana prawns, king prawns, mud crabs are known to inhabit the area.
Approx 1841 Hectare in size, the reserve has extensive mangrove stands with low closed Avicennia and Aegialitis shrubs and open mixed forests; seagrass areas; shallow littoral flats; patches of saltmarsh.
