http://www.dpi.qld.gov.au/documents/Fisheries_Habitats/The Bohle River Fish Habitat was originally declared on 17 November 1983. This habitat covers 1,305 hectares of the lower parts of the Bohle River and foreshore to the mouth of Black River, 12 km NW of
Townsville.
This Estuarine and wetlands buffer zone contains extensive stands of mangroves, salt-marsh and un-vegetated claypans along the estuary.
A popular place for recreational fishing of
Barramundi, blue salmon, bream, estuary cod, flathead,
grey mackerel, grunter,
mangrove jack, as
well as queenfish, sea
mullet and prawns.
