164 species of bird have been recorded in the reserve, including the endangered regent honeyeater, attracting birdwatchers from around the state.
The
Castle Rock walking track offers an easy 8-km return walk with stunning
views from the
sandstone 'pagoda'
rock formations at the end of the track. The Moolarben
picnic area (day use only) has tables, barbecues and a
toilet.
Access 45 km north-east of
Mudgee. Entry is via sealed roads off the
Mudgee-Wollar road.
