This is a popular beach with good access and a large car park surrounding a central kiosk and restaurant, and a lifesaving watchtower.
Port Beach is a five minute drive from
Fremantle and a 30 minute drive south of
Perth. With attractive
views out to
Rottnest Island and a popular café adjacent to an enclosed playground, a soft white sandy beach, patrolled swimming beach, and a buzz of activity on summer days.
The beach itself commences on the southern side of Leighton Beach and gently curves to the south for 1 km. Average 1m waves and usually has an attached low tide bar, which is cut by rips during and following periods of higher waves. Higher waves also produce a beach break called Sandtracks towards the southern end of
the beach.
The beach is monitored by the
Fremantle Surf Life Saving Club on weekends and public holidays in summer. Bar, Cafe,
