The Shire of Nungarin is located in the Wheatbelt region of Western Australia and has a
population of approx 230. But don't let that fool you, this town has some of the best hidden treasures in the region.
In the main street, don't miss the 2 storey federation style hotel,
The Woolshed Hotel with its picturesque frontage and inviting entrance, sweeping wooden staircase leads to tastefully period decorated rooms, many with their own french doors opening onto
the balcony offering
views over the town. Don't miss this gem of a place. They do meals and of course there's a pub with beer on tap,
pool table, lots of
heritage items on display and of course a grassy beer garden.
Just out of sight, beyond the main street don't miss the
Nungarin Heritage Machinery & Army Museum. This museum is an incredibly formidable sight, being the largest building you'll see around for hundreds of kilometres. It was purpose built in WW11 as an army depot for transport equipment and in the post-war era has become a
farm machinery
heritage musuem. Many of the vehicles are in working order, including tanks, tractors, Land Rovers and other vehicles so pop in for a look and have some fun with some genuine local history.
