Thirsty Point is a popular swimming beach in
Cervantes.
The beach wraps around the
sandy point and at low tide a shallow sandbar runs out from the point into the water for a few hundred metres. It is an attractive and enjoyable beach but when its windy its the place to be for kite surfing and windsurfing. There are reefs just offshore and islands within close proximity that are breeding grounds for many species of birds and a resting ground for sea lions so it is not unusual to see the head of a sea lion pop up whilst you are here.
Signboards at
the beach detail interesting history of the area, significance of names and types of wildlife you'll encounter. Please note this is a no-camping zone and fines apply.
Dogs permitted only on a leash. Waterbowl, tap, beach shower and
bins provided in
carpark.
Take the short walk up from the
carpark into the scrub along the boardwalk and steps to a small rise
lookout for lovely
views over the area.
