4WD access over rocks in the final 1km leads directly to a
boab tree at the head of the main trail to the Upper Barnett River
Gorge. An hour's walk (follow
cairns) is required along the top ridge of the plateau above the river to reach the only safe access leading down to the upper
gorge.
Alternatively, for caravans and those without 4WD, the lower
gorge is only a 500m walk from campsites.
