Catch the train from
Normanton Station and ride out to the 16 mile mark at Critters
Camp, then return. A fun two hours is all that's needed on that 1950's
suspension. Longer journey also available to
Croydon with the option to travel both ways by train or return by coach.
?Originally built to connect the once bustling river port of
Normanton to the gold fields of
Croydon, today the Gulflander is a tourism icon. From wetlands and grasslands to the arid Savannah, the 1950 railmotor, also known as the ‘Tin Hare’, ventures through countryside that most people would never see.
While at the Terminuis, enjoy a self-guided walk around the station precinct and museum. Built in 1889, the
Heritage-listed
Normanton Railway Station is a treasure trove of history and architecture. Explore the vintage locomotives, carriages,
Heritage-listed buildings and station gardens. Pick up a handy map from the station and start exploring.
