Gladstone Tondoon Botanic Gardens is a regional Botanic Garden and native sanctuary of flora and fauna. These gardens are a combination of forest and 21 hectares of naturally displayed gardens overlooking Lake Tondoon and nestled into the undulating landscape of Mount Biondello.
Visitors can enjoy the tranquil location of the secluded Gardens which also feature
walking tracks, botanical displays and a Japanese Tea Garden.
The Gardens boast more than 1500 species of native plants from the local Port Curtis Region and Far North Queensland. Here at
the Gardens you can experience different environments from regions across Queensland in the one location, ranging from the native forest and natural bushland of Mount Biondello, and the coastal Central Queensland rainforest to the rainforest of North Queensland.
Officially opened in 1988 as part of a
Gladstone Regional Council conservation strategy,
Gladstone Tondoon Botanic Gardens has become a place of inspiration, relaxation and
recreation for many. Visited by more than 100,000 people each year, it is a popular place for picnics, walks, cultural and ceremonial events, children's activities and community events.Cafe, free bbq, playground,
visitors centre and
art gallery, gardens reference library, walking trails inc 3km trail to highest point in
Gladstone.
