Lake Eacham Day Use Area - QLD

The Traditional Owners of this country, the Ngadjon-jii, welcome you to their rainforest homeland. They ask that you enjoy your stay and take care while visiting. This clear blue lake surrounded by lush tropical rainforest is part of the Wet Tropics World Heritage Area. The lake is a marr or volcanic crater created thousands of years ago by two massive explosions of superheated groundwater. Differences in soil type, drainage or past disturbances have shaped the forest and a number of rainforest communities can be seen around the lake. Walk the 3km lake circuit track and learn about the geology, history and natural features of this park. Or take the family on the 1.4km return active children's walk. If relaxing is more your style, rest in the shaded picnic area, take a quiet dip in the clear lake or enjoy the park's abundance of birds.
