Information

Burke and Wills camped here on 19/1/1861. They had just crossed Greens Creek. when they saw a large number of aboriginals who were close by but following them. This was the first time they had seen any for some time. It was later recalled by an elder of that tribe that the expedition had been tracked for some days keep well out of eye sight. The young bloods of the tribe wanted to attack the expedition but the elder were fearful of the camels and were concerned they would be attacked and eaten by them. Little did they know camels are vegetarian!!
