Burke and Wills camped here on 12/11/1860 till 14/11/1860. The river had petered out to a flood plain. Wills was convinced the Cooper was nearby. For the next week the expedition party only moved slowly as they went on reconnaissance trips in each direction trying to find the Cooper. They kept moving westward setting up camps where there was
water available.
