Burke and Wills camped here on 8/11/1860. Without aboriginal guides, the expedition were now uncertain where they would find
water going forward. Wills as the surveyor of the party had been making observations and so used his intuition to see forward, observing bird life, animal tracks that would lead the party to
water.
Camp 55 was made on Tippera
Creek which was dry. Day temps were 40C.
