Reservoir Walk Trail Head - VIC

2.6km, 45min return.Water Race Circuit 5.1km (1.5hrs return). Mt Langi Ghiran Walk 12.3km (3hrs return).The popular Reservoir Walk (2.6km, 45 minutes return) starts from the picnic ground and climbs gently alongside Easter Creek, passed a small holding dam and weir, through native bushland and granite boulders before reaching the old reservoir. The reservoir and dam were constructed from local granite in 1880, and the main reservoir is an emergency water supply for Ararat. The Reservoir wall, holding dam / weir, and water race are constructed from hand strewn granite blocks quarried nearby – a work of art in itself created by tradesmen of years gone by.For a longer walk, continue on to the Water-race Circuit (5.1km from the picnic ground, 1.5 hours return) to follow the historic granite water-race through the lightly forested lower slopes of Langi Ghiran, before returning to the picnic ground.
