Carpark and information/hikers registration hut. Tracks here are long distance/multiday grade 5 hikes into the Southwest National Park. The Western Arthur Range Traverse can be experienced from
Alpha Moraine to Kappa Moraine in 5 to 7 days. The full traverse will take 5 – 7 days, and is a 58km loop, Grade 5 considered to be one of the most challenging multi-day walks in Tasmania. Here, highly-skilled walkers can put their
well-honed knowledge to the
test in a challenging and often inhospitable environment.
Scotts Peak to Melaleuca (Port Davey Track) is 4-5 day 75km hike one-way. Melleuca has an airfield where hikers can take a charter plane back to civilisation. Melaleuca is also the start/end of the South Coast Track an 85km 5-6 day hiking track to
Cockle Creek.The nearest
toilets and camping is the
Huon Camp just 200m from this
trailhead. Another
campground at
Edgar Dam is 7km away.This is the end of the road.
