This location is on the NE shore of
Venus Bay. It is made up predominantly of
shell grit which can be to a depth of 3/4 metres. This grit has in the past served as a filter and as a result there have been shallow wells dug with a supply of fresh stock water in each. This was a valuable source of water in the summer for the local town folk and farmers. The tidal flats here are a fished for Flounder which are speared at night by using a car battery in an old tub and an under water lamp.
