Visitors to the
Onslow foreshore will see a custom designed replica of the world’s most notorious photographers, Gillie and Marc’s Paparazzi Dogs, which capture the daily sunrise and Stairway to the Moon along
Onslow’s Front Beach.
The four bronze Dogmen sculptures now part of the
Onslow foreshore offer something a little bit different towards public art in the town.
“The dogs were initially designed as an art experiment that then went viral with millions of visitors coming to see them in cities across the world”.
“Having seen the dogs
Melbourne’s Federation Square and the focal point they became, Council were keen to explore how to incorporate them into
Onslow’s unique position as experiencing both sunrise and sunset and also as a destination to view the Stairway to the Moon phenomenon.
Onslow’s Paparazzi Dogs are strategically positioned, looking out across the water, to soak up the spectacular skies and colours of sunrise and as they have done when travelling the world, will shine a spotlight on
Onslow as a destination for tourism and experiencing something different.
They are also a symbol of the transformation of
Onslow and celebration of the natural beauty surrounding our coastal community.
Set up on the shore alongside locals and tourists, the paparazzi dogs have their cameras ready, waiting for one of the most spectacular events in the world.
“Slip into
Onslow and see them for yourself!”
Onslow Staircase Street Festival takes place on 26 June, 24 July, 28 August and 25 September to witness the natural phenomenon of a staircase to the moon as the full moon rises over exposed tidal flats.
