Information

Mount Paris Dam was designed in 1935 and built in 1936. Originally called the Morningstar Dam it was connected to the Mount Paris tin mine by an 11 km water race, including several timber flumes over creeks and gullies the reinforced concrete slab and buttress dam at 250 m long and up to 16 m high is the oldest, probably the biggest and one of very few of its kind in Australia These days. The dam wall is now a ruin and there is no water enabling visitors to investigate walking through the concrete buttresses into what was once the dam there is also a beautiful creek flowing with waterfall and surrounded by ferns and rocky areas to enjoy.
