Camping is not permitted but this
carpark is for those that would like to visit and observe the interesting feature of
Mount Scoria by taking the short, easy 860m return walk to the base of the mountain. Climbing the mountain is not recommend as the scree slopes are very unstable - serious injuries have occurred here as one wrong step can cause rocks to move and result in fall injuries or entrapment. Take note of this as the hike is listed on AllTrails but the National Park website recommends against leaving the base walk. At the
carpark area you will find sherted picnic tables,
toilets and tank water, plus an automatic bbq. No fires. No pets.
