The Burke & Wills expedition made their 4th
camp here at what was then the township of Lancefield near
Deep Creek. The town has since been relocated 2km south. At the time of their stay, the land on which they camped was owned by William Hentry Dunsford. A stone marker with a
plaque is found at the site just north of Mustey's
Bridge (over
Deep Creek) to commemorate their visit on 23 August 1860. This location is just south of the bitumen road called "Burke & Wills Track" that veers NW to Mia Mia.
