Stunning at sunrise, sunset or during the day, the name says it all. And from the Arckaringa
homestead…the changing looks of
the desert hills are in distant but ever-present view all day long.
Arckaringa
Homestead offer basic accommodation for any travellers who would like to spend the night. Cabins or camping (unpowered sites only). Showers and
toilets. Pets must be restrained. Barbecue area where you can
cook up your steak while watching the view of
the Painted Desert.
Check in at the house before setting up
camp. If you are planning to
camp, there is no need to book a
camp site unless you are travelling in a large group.
There is an abundance of animals which inhabit the country on Arckaringa. Kangaroos are the most commonly seen.
Kangaroos – red and
grey, Euros.
Fat-tailed and long-tailed dunnarts.
Reptiles – lizards including bearded dragons, goannas, geckoes and of course snakes!
Dingoes, Wedge-tailed eagles, hakes, butcher birds, galahs, sulphur-crested cockatoos, ringneck parrots, budgerigars, wild turkeys (bustard) and finches are just some of the birds that fly our skies. There are also numerous ducks, emus and waterbirds.
