Eulo is a small town lies just 69 kilometres west of
Cunnamulla on the Adventure Way. It is known for its opal production and the opportunity to take a "wellness" inducing mud bath. It is part of the Paroo Shire Council and on the Paroo River.
There are a number of
mud springs on the area which have produced some significant archaeological finds in recent years. Chief among these is the Diprotodon Optatum, an ancestor of the wombat. A statue of this long extinct animal stands near the eastern entrance to the town.
Wikipedia reports a
population of around 100 in the 2016 census but the official web page claims 48. The higher number probably includes the surrounding area.
The
Eulo Queen Hotel operates a caravan park. There is a police station and
general store which includes a coffee
shop. Opal retail stores are found in the main street.
