Farm opened in June 2005. The 55 turbines generate enough electricity to supply 52,000 homes- two per cent of South Australia's electricity.
Blade speeds can reach up to 222 kilometres per hour but the turbines automatically shut down to avoid damage in gale force winds. It's a fascinating story and you can learn more at the free viewing area on Sheoak Beach Road, just three kilometres south-west of
