The Sale Swing
Bridge is the oldest surviving swing
bridge in Australia and was the first movable
bridge constructed in Victoria. Construction took place between 1880 and 1883. The
bridge spans the La Trobe River and
swings to allow boats to travel to and from the Port of Sale. The
heritage listed
bridge was vandalised in 2016, but was re-opened in 2017 after a $160,000 repair project.
The scheduled opening times for the swing
bridge are:
Saturdays and Sundays: Between 3.00pm and 4.00pm
Second Wednesday of every month: Between 11.00am and 12.00pm
