Information

Wild horses are prolific in this area for approximately 50km along both sides of the Mereenie Loop Rd. If you notice horse manure on the road you are in an area where herds of horses are likely to be seen just beyond the road verge in the shelter of the trees so be alert for straying wildlife on the road. Being born in the wild Brumbies have a strong sense of ‘family’ or mob structure so you will likely see them in small scattered groups. There is a strict law of ‘pecking order’ and each horse has his definite place in the mob. Their senses are highly developed, and they are an intelligent, alert and thinking animal and shouldn't cause you any harm or concern. Please add your photos of these beautiful creatures here.
