MacLaren Point in the
Lincoln National Park is set amongst thick coastal mallee, with an adjacent sandy beach. This
campground is not suitable for caravans and is suitable for camper trailers and tents only. There are four sites available and no facilities (nearest are at Fisherman Point approx. 7km). Generators are permitted between 9am to 9pm. Be self-sufficient and carry adequate supplies of
drinking water – do not rely on tanks or creeks for water.
Campfires permitted, fire pits not provided (seasonal fire restrictions and conditions apply). Swimming, fishing, birdwatching, short walks, trekking and kayaking. Pets are not permitted.
Park entry fees and camping fees apply. Book on-line prior to arrival.
Check the website for full details of each
camp site which vary in size, shade and base type (uneven, sand or
limestone base being difficult to secure tent pegs etc).
Check Park alerts. Mobile phone coverage can be patchy and unreliable in this park, especially if you are in low-lying areas.
The park provides habitat to a diverse range of native wildlife. More than 123 species of birds are known to visit the area providing ideal bird watching opportunities. Look out for the Australian sea-lions and New Zealand fur-seals that haul up on the coast to rest after lengthy fishing trips at sea, or the southern right whales that are occasionally sighted from the park. The bottle-nose dolphin and common dolphin are frequently seen close to the shore.
The collection of firewood (either dead or alive) is prohibited.
Take rubbish
home with you – if you carry it in, carry it out.
NOTE: Feral bees occur within the park and can become a nuisance to visitors during summer when they are attracted to water.
