Channel Point Coastal Reserve is approximately 240 km south west of
Darwin. WARNING: ACCESS PERMIT and KEY are required, even if accessed by boat. There is a
boat ramp 500 metres from the
camping area. The reserve is usually open May - October. Permits are available from Parks and Wildlife Service office in the Goyder Building, Palmerston, NT. Phone: 08 - 8999 4795.
If boating / fishing in this area be aware of shallow waters and possible large tidal changes. No swimming as Estuarine (Salt water) crocodiles inhabit the waters.
This is an isolated reserve and you will need to arrive
well equipped and self-sufficient. A
camping area,
toilets, showers, and communal fireplaces are provided.
Bore water is provided at the hard surface
boat ramp, but please use sparingly. Provide as much of your own water as possible. If using generators, only the "silent pack" generators are permitted.
