Bowgada Nature Reserve is located within the Shire of Perenjori, approximately 30 minutes’ drive west of
Bowgada and 15 minutes north of Perenjori. The reserve is approximately 20ha and provides an important sanctuary for native flora and fauna in the region. The
Bowgada Nature Reserve is part of the Wildflower Way which starts in
Geraldton and finishes in
Dalwallinu.
There are a number of beautiful local trees here, including the
York gum (Eucalyptus laxophleba) and the
Bowgada (Acacia linophylla). The
York gums play a crucial role in these
woodlands, providing hollows for animals such as the Western spiny-tailed skink (Egernia stokesii badia) and previously, the Brushtail possums, who once frequented
York gum
woodlands like these.
