Also known as Carawine Upper
Pool (but technically that is actually further along).
This beautiful
river crossing is 4WD only and there is
free camping permitted on the river bank but no facilities. This is a remote
bush camp. The track can be accessed from either end (turn off Skull Springs Rd at
marked junction or from the Woodie Woodie Road). High clearance for both 4WD and anything you are towing is required due to dips and gullies along the rough track. Not suitable to caravans and only for very small high clearance offroad trailers. The track is narrow, remote and rough but the scenery is spectacular. Camps are possible all along both sides of the river but be careful in the crossing - stick to crossing straight ahead only - don't follow any tracks in or out of the river other than the main crossing due to soft boggy sand and pebbles. The water is safe for swimming. A delightful spot.
