Meentheena Veterans Retreat is dedicated to those who have served in the Australian military forces, as
well as para-military veterans who have served in peace-keeping roles, police, fire and rescue, ambulance officers and state emergency service volunteers.
Situated in the heart of the
Pilbara in Western Australia, Meentheena has so many things to offer for those who have an appreciation for wide open spaces, rugged and colourful landscapes, pristine billabongs, beautiful flora and fauna, stunning sunsets and the kind of silence that can only be found in the outback.
Main
camp has 24 hour solar/battery/
generator power, potable
drinking water, showers and
toilet facilities. Shade for caravans/campers or tents. Large areas to move or
camp out of the way and avoid everyone (if that's what you want). If not feeling
well and need some air conditioned comfort, settle down in an ensuite donga. If you need to work on your car or caravan, you can park in the open work shed and do your work. There is a
Camp Kitchen/ Club House with wash-up and cooking facilities with refrigeration available. Phones and small appliances can be recharged in the Club House.
HISTORY:
Meentheena is named after a
rock formation in a giant late Archean lake system called the Meentheena Member (Tumbiana Formation). For more scientific details see
