Willandra Station was once the greatest merino stations in Western NSW. After a prolonged drought after the second world war, Willandra begun its decline as a prominent pastoral property and was sold in 1960 to the New Zealand and Australian Land Company and then in 1960 it was sold to
Dalgety, who did not renew the pastoral leases. The NSW Government gazetted
Willandra National Park in 1972. A major restoration program in the late 1990s restored the buildings to their former glory and a number of them are available for public accommodation.
