The Batman
Bridge crosses the Tamar River in northern Tasmania, about 30 km north of
Launceston. It was one of the first cable-stayed truss bridges in the world. It provides access between the north east and north west of Tasmania.
The
bridge is suspended from a huge A frame by multiple cables on each side of the carriageway. It is 432 metres in length, has a span of 215 metres over the river and is 29 metres above the high tide water level.
