Powell Creek
camping area is the only
camping area within the
Hell Hole Gorge National Park. The
campsite is a 7km drive from the park entry and you need to bring a tent, swag or small offroad camper as caravans will not make it up
the rock climbs. The track entrance requires high clearance 4WDs.
The
camping area is situated overlooking Powell Creek, on a stony plateau amongst the low wattles and mulga trees with
views along sections of open
gorge and smooth
rock holes carved and worn from years of flooding. Enjoy the peace and tranquillity; the area is ideal for bird watching, photography and bush walking with panoramic
views across the plateau at sunset.
The camping surface is rocky. Driving tent pegs into the hard ground is difficult, so other means of stablilizing your structure will be required.
No facilities so byo porta
toilet, rubbish bags, firewood and fuel stoves.
Generators are not allowed.
Book online and obtain an e-permit in advance as self registration is not available. No mobile phone coverage.
