Information

The McPartlan Pass Canal allows the water from Lake Pedder to flow into Lake Gordon, a short distance from Strathgorden. The canal can be easily seen from Gordon River Road. The canal combines the two lakes turning them into the largest water storage area in the Tasmania hydro system and for the whole of Australia. The canal was built at a point where inlets on both lakes made the canal length as short as possible.
