Copperfield
Gorge has been eroded in dramatic black basaltic rocks by the
Einasleigh River. This area is the southeast boundary of the Undara lava fields and here the river has cut through the lava flows giving visitors a different aspect from that of the lava tubes further east at Undara.
You can fish and swim all year around in
the Gorge.
The rail
bridge has been washed away so many times during major floods that parts of it can still be seen in
the Gorge when the water is low!
