F K Rolfe tendered £419 - 12 -11 to the Water Conservation Authority to sink this
well in 1885.
The was was 115 feet deep at yielded around 10,000 gallons per day, but the water was quite brackish.
The District Council of Ninnes leased the
well and built a windmill and stone tank, and then sold the water for six pence per 100 gallons.
In time the
well became outdated with the arrival of reticulated water from the Beetaloo System.
