The 150 Degrees East Meridian is the basis of the Eastern Australian Standard Time, used in Queensland, New South Wales (except
Broken Hill), Victoria and Tasmania.
The 150 Degrees East Meridian crosses the Oxley Highway at this point, which is 34 kilometres south-west of Gunnedah. Here you'll find a
rest area, information board, a sundial and barbecue facilities.
Methods of measuring time have varied over the ages, but the time unit most commonly employed has been to use the apparent daily motion of the sun across the sky, from which solar time is derived. From noon on one day to noon the next is 24 hours or 86400 seconds - the synodic day.
