Muggun Rockholes is one of many rockholes along the
Great Central Road. These are natural cavities found in the
granite and act as natural water tanks which are replenished from underground stores and rainwater run off. Traditionally, they were important water sources for aboriginals who later showed early Europeans how to locate and use them. In those days people put a lot of effort into caring for these important natural water sources and would often cover them with branches and leaves to stop animals or other pollutants falling in. These days, most of the
gnamma holes and rockholes are fouled and polluted.
